basic questions from a NEWBIE--please help me

I have two problems-
1) when I try to use a font, somehow it always changes fonts by the time I type. I think I am doing something out of order. I select font, size, etc...then go to the "workspace" and make sure it is "active" but when I try to type it is usually not the font I selected??
2) how do I find and download SVG or SCUT files to someplace I can use them easily, and then do I use them just as I would a letter/character?

#1. if you are in inkscape be sure after selecting the font, look down and the bottom left and hit set as default..

# 2. I download into my Judy page...you can open your -my document or my pictures page and then go to File in upper left hand corner, click on it and a drop down list shows... go down to New and you will have choices... click on folder and at the bottom of the pager or end of of last folder and new folder will be there and type in the name of the new folder...svg or what ever helps you reconize the folder...then save all those files into that folder...when saving them it gives you a choice where you would like to save those items

I was doing the same thing you are when I first started. After clicking on the font you want, give it a couple seconds to "load" and THEN be sure to click on your mat before you start typing, otherwise the font will change with the first letter you type.
