How to use the WELD feature

Post by helinequeen »

Hello there,
I purchase SCA yesterday and cannot get the WELD feature to work. I thought i might have to nudge the letters together and then select weld but that didn't work either. There is nothing in the HELP guide explaining how to use this feature. I was hoping it was as easy as selecting the weld button. Maybe I'm missing something....any help would be appreciated.

Hi, .. It is pretty simple.. It sounds like you are doing it correctly.. type your word you want to weld and then check the weld box. Then nudge or move each letter to the next. I start in the center and then click on each letter to the right or left and put them where i want. Then get the whole thing in one box. Press preview and you will be able to tell if they are welded. Where they are welded will be a grey line. the rest is red lines.. Hope this makes sense and helps you. If not I am sure someone else can help you.

Type your word and theck the Weld box in Shape Properties. I don't use the nudge because you can actually move each letter separately. (Pic 1) Make sure the letters overlap.

Use the Magnifier to view your word. If welded, the word outline will be red (Pic 2) and you will see that the word is welded at the opening in the letters.

Hope this helps.

Try a different font. I've encountered one or two that don't seem to weld or they skew funny or certain letters just plain disappear. I haven't been able to get the dingbats I've tried to weld either. When I want to add them in, I've been using Inkscape.
