Tell us step by step what you have tried. Also describe what you are trying to convert.

Re: I need HELP!!!! Convert Files to SVG
If you've read all the tutorials then you know that you can't just convert photoshop files to svg, you have to autotrace them. As Heather said, we need a little more info on what the files are like before we can help you figure out the best way to produce svgs. Are they b&w line art, solid shapes, photos, color graphics, etc? What are the symptoms when they don't convert properly? Or just post a sample image and we'll try to point you in the right direction.

I am very new to all of this but if you post the files I will try to convert or you can send them in a private message to make sure I get them. Also the people here are so great with helping if you ask they will usually do it. Inkscape is a great program but it can be very overwhelming.

Re: I need HELP!!!! Convert Files to SVG
Most of the things that I am trying to convert are black and white. When I do get the file into Inkscape and do path<tracebitmap the whole thing comes up black. The edges aren't smooth. I when I do cut it with my expressions it has more than one line.

Re: I need HELP!!!! Convert Files to SVG
Before you trace you need to work with the preference settings until update gives you a good representation. After you trace, view the image in outline View>display mode>outline. There you'll see what potential cut lines will look like. If it is not smooth enough, try path>simplify. Because it is tracing both sides of the line you will get double lines and you will need to path>break apart and delete one set of the lines.
Depending on the image you might have more luck with the paint bucket technique:

Re: I need some help.... Have jpg
I have a jpg picture of a deer head. I can get it converted in Inkscape okay and saved as a SVG.
When I import it in SCAL and cut it... there are alot of little pieces. I want this to be more connected. How do I do it?
Here is the file I want converted and made more connected.
Can someone help, tell me what I need to do!

That image has enough little lines that I used the bezier tool to make the svg. See this post for the file. http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopi ... =20&t=4297

Thanks for converting this file.
So, if I have other clipart that has alot of line and keeps coming up missing lines, I should use the bezier tool? What does it look like.
I need to watch more of those tutorials, but then I get confused.
Thanks a million!
