Can you layer an svg?
Can you layer an svg?
Can you make layers or are they all flat cuts?
Re: Can you layer an svg?
I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I created a tutorial for multi layered cuts. Have a look. If this is not what you mean, let me know and I'll see if I can help.

SCAL does not understand layers. Files must be flat in to cut them in SCAL.Cynthia wrote:Can you make layers or are they all flat cuts?

I understand the importing of layering in scal. I guess what I am trying to figure out is how to take a pdf that you like (say...of a bear...) and create layers. Like, the bottom of the bear, and the face of the bear and the paws of the bear. Does that make sense?

If it is already in vector form, you should be able to just move the pieces where you want them for cutting. If it isn't in vector form, you would need to either trace it, or use the paint bucket tool to get your pieces. There is a lot of talk of saving them as separate files, but that makes sizing difficult. Unless you are cutting something really large, you should be able to just use one file. You can use layers in Ink if you need more than one mat for cutting, just make the extra layers invisible before you import into SCAL. You might want to leave something visible on each layer that is the same height as your finished project.
