Can someone please help me with this file. I want to add a space for some text similiar to pic #2. If someone could please TELL me how to do it in SCAL2, I would appreciate it.
Thank you
Sorry the pics are so big.

Re: Please Help with this file
Make a rectangle from your shapes library (turn off keep proportions) and make it long and narrow, designating the place on your utensils that you want to delete (the area where you will write your name).
Once you have that, select both items (the utensils and the rectangle). Then go to Path (drop down menu at top) and click on Back Minus Front.
The space will now be clear. Then you will again get your rectangle shape, turn off proportions, and make a thin line to attach to the bottom section. Make sure it is touching the lower portion of the utensils. Then copy paste your thin line and move the copy to the bottom of the top section. Notice the lines attaching the utensils in your photo. Then again select everything and go to weld. If you go to your cutter menu and click on preview, you'll see how they are now going to cut as one. Now just type your text in between. You can again turn off your keep proportions and stretch/change the shape of the letters to make them fit as well as you can (and making it still look good).
Hope that helps!

Thank you so much. I will try this.
Re: Please Help with this file
Mitzi, your instructions worked perfectly for the project above. I'm lazy and wanted to have a "one" piece cut so I used path/union to connect all of the pieces. I did the trace in Inkscape first and than exported to ecal since the trace in ecal gave me too many color layers, but after that it was all ecal.
Here's how it turned out cut…my eclipse did a great job. I cut on cardstock on heavy but will do one in contact paper as soon as I can find a color I like. Would do well on a wall or framed…maybe some Christmas gifts (with the name changed of course). The rolling pin is wonky on the bottom as I was not pressed down on the paper I was using as a background not that it cut wonky.
This is the file before cutting to ensure that the path/union got it all.
Just thought someone else might like other options.
Thanks providing the instructions and thanks to Awesome for showing it to us.
