HELP!!!!! Trying to convert BMP to SVG

Newbie here! I am trying to pull a file into Illustrator, Live Trace and then save as an SVG file, but everytime I do, all I get is the surrounding box and no image. The only time it's worked a little differently was to cut out the bounding box and little diagonal lines in each of the corners. Any advice or help would be appreciated. I have SO MANY IMAGES that I'd love to cut, but until I figure out how to do it, I'm stuck in the water! Thanks in advance for the help! I know there is some wonderful smart person on here who knows what I'm doing wrong.

I use Illustrator ... I am not having a problem.... can you post the file? I will try it. Also a blank screen will show after trace if you are not in preview mode.... it's under VIEW... you could be in outline mode... If you are the trace will not show until you expand the trace

Here is the original file. I just can't figure this out. The original file is actually a GIF format. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong. I seems really simple. I'm using Illustrator CS2, but have CS3 I haven't installed on my laptop yet. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi. Here is the file as an svg. I am using Inkscape, so I am not sure how to help you with Illustrator. I just saved it as a bitmap, opened it, traced it, and saved as an svg. Hope this helps.

Initially I havd the same problem with Illustrator. Make sure to uncheck preserve Illustrator editing capabilities in the save options (after you choose SVG, the options box pops up).

Your original file needed to be traced or outlined. I think your version of Illustrator has the capabilities to do that. I am still using CS, so I have to use Streamline to trace or outline files.
