Edges not continuous after tracing in Inkscape

Post by kelmarfar76 »

I am trying to convert a JPEG to SVG- I traced the image, but when I convert it and import it into SCAL, the line is not continuous- it has breaks in it. It seems as if the image fell a little bit outside of the box when I highlighted the area that I wanted to trace and those pieces of the edge are missing. I tried making the box around the original image larger, but it didn't work.

Can anyone explain how I can correct this? I'll attach the SVG file if that helps...

Thanks!

it should work if you just resize it in inkscape. click on it & make it smaller with the arrows?????

not sure why it's not working for you.

I agree with Jancy - - I did a trace and it's OK. Remember that if you are tracing a small low resolution image ( something you have copied off the Net) resized then it will become pixelated and the trace function will see those jaggedy pixels and trace those too, so the more precise your base image is the better the trace- try upping the threshold setting to 0.650 before you trace, this makes your image darker.
Sometimes the imported image in SCAL shows up as a set of broken lines but it still cuts perfectly.

OK - another problem : I saw that you're not working in mm or inches but in pixels - and that your page size is very small, which can lead to a lot of problems with importing and resizing.
Have you set your preferences in Inkscape ?

Thanks for the replies and help. I have a question about my preferences- what should I have these set to?
