that's not an easy or quick fix in SCAL--if at all; nor is it in inkscape.

you can manipulate the nodes (think of dot to dot--the dots are the nodes in a file) in inkscape to make lines connect or delete nodes altogether.

so much depends on what exactly you're trying to trace. if it's an image, you can use the complete outline as a mat & the insides as pieces to paper piece. same thing with a font, but I just use fonts that don't have any shadows in them.

hope this makes sense.

if it's an image you're working on, feel free to email it to me & I'll see what I can do with it.
cacroppin@yahoo.com. If it's a font----I suggest using a solid font.

To trace satisfactorily you must have as solid an image as possible - tracing a line image no matter how fine will give you a double cut as Inkscape traces both sides of the line. You can eliminate this by cutting your dies in black paper and scanning them, saving as a jpeg and then tracing them in Inkscape.
Also what you see on a SCAL screen isn't always how it cuts - have you tried cutting your image? Sometimes I have had images coming up as a corner of a square and half a circle but it cut the complete image ok!
