My DH just got me the Cricut Expression for my birthday/Christmas, and I've been looking at adding the SCAL software to my computer. I'm just confused about what is actually required in order to use it. It seems that you need the DS software as well, is that correct? Can you please tell me exactly what is necessary to use SCAL? Thank you.

You will only need DSS to update your firmware on the Cricut. After that it is not necessary

And you can update your firmware with the trial version of DSS so you don't need to buy it, plus if you have a friend that has DSS already you can use that to update your firmware. DSS can update an unlimited number of Cricut's firmware.
