Eclipse and Ecal with vinyl issues

Post by mommylala1 »

I am sooo frustrated.... is anyone else having an issue cutting vinyl. I am to the point I almost wish I kept my Cricut for vinyl. EVERY time I cut vinyl i waste 10 times as much as I use. I had one piece of ourple to spare fro a baby shower gift and ended up not able to do it. I have the set for vinyl and even tryed to slow it down from 4 to 3 or 2 with pressure set at one and my blade housing I even moved to a 1... still cuts all the way through the backing and shreds my vinyl letters... grrrr Im ready to give up and return it as I do more vinyl then anything.. and if I do cardstock.. like I have to cut 40 little baby oneses for invites and the one in the lower right corner.. every second or third one had a cut right thru the middle.

What do you have the blade set at? I hade issues at first with the new style blade holder. The new style holder does not click like the old style one does. So you can set it to just about any setting like 2.5 or even -05. When you cut vinyl you want the blade barely poking out the bottom of the holder. My replacement click holder my setting is 2. However not everyone's settings will be the same. Since it is cutting through like you have said it sounds like the blade is too low. Make sure it is barely poking out.....like just the tip of it. With vinyl less blade is your friend. I was frustrated with my original holder because it was changing blade depths on its on while cutting.......design flaw. The click holder is the way to go.

Contact Sizzix customer service if the blade holder is giving you problems and they will send you a replacement. There were some problems with getting stray cuts as it would drag across the material. This might be your problem.

I have problems with my cardstock cutting through the paper image as well. I wish I could get some help with all of this. I have posted many other issues I am having on this board with no help :-( I wish I kept my cricut too!
