Unless I have missed something where an update was posted I'm really disappointed with the ridiculous wait for a legit resolution to the firmware issues. I am currently running 2.1 on my Cricut which allows me to use SCAL but it causes major issues (slicing of almost every cut) in DS. I understand these updates take time but it's been over a month. I can't use my new carts (that I was so excited to use and Pre-ordered) w/DS. I've pretty much stopped using either software all together because I feel limited to using only SCAL... I love it for fonts but I usually combine with shapes from my Provo carts and with the current compatibility issues I do not have that option...
Just venting I guess...
Is there ANY update on the progress of this issue????
Thanks!
So disappointed with the wait... (firmware issues)
Re: So disappointed with the wait... (firmware issues)
Me, too! I check in here several times a day to see if someone has posted on the progress. I keep hoping that I will log in to this site and there will be an update ready to be downloaded!!!! I would like to know if they think they can fix the problem. The last we heard was a short note on August 20.
Re: So disappointed with the wait... (firmware issues)
I have stopped using scal all together now until the issues are sorted if there not i have accepted my money is gone,i cannot afford a seperate machine to run it on,so one waits. But one feels at the response we dont get to our questions and the fact he is a one man band nothing will happen any time soon is my guess.

It's possible that with cricuts new updates... they've made it harder to get the SCAL program to work. I'm sure they don't like it that another party beat them to the use any font first.
Re: So disappointed with the wait... (firmware issues)
I'm not using the Design Studio, but I'm hoping for all of you that do that Todd will soon post on this board himself to add a word of encouragement.
I'm also hoping that from his silence on the subject, it means he is busy rewriting his programming to get around this issue.
Like Amymarie just posted I don't think Provocraft was very happy to see SCAL come out. I sure hope Todd isn't facing any legal issues because of this. I think SCAL ROCKS and Provocraft should be busy endorsing the use of it because it is magnifying their sales figures for the purchase of Cricut machines. When I first saw the infomercial on the Cricut I thought it was a very cool tool BUT I wasn't going to buy it until I saw the full cost involved. With always having to buy the carts, that automatically put it out of my $ ballpark. So with further investigation I came across the postings on the Cricut forum about SCAL and IMMEDIATELY went out and bought a Cricut and SCAL. I am also buying Provocrafts products like cutting mats and new blades and fully intend to buy the new deeper cut housing/blade coming out shortly. I LOVE their card stock selections and buy LOTS. In a business sense I think it makes MORE sense to make love not war ESPECIALLY when you are still making money from us and you get a whole lot of POSITIVE publicity as a result.
There's my 2¢ worth!

Re: So disappointed with the wait... (firmware issues)
I sent Todd an email this morning asking him to please give us an update. I asked him before and got no answer - I really hope he answers this time! I stopped using DS when I got SCAL and I don't have very many carts so I am ok with only using SCAL. I still have an early version of the firmware and have not had any problems with it.
Todd really needs to give us an update soon! In my opinion, he doesn't need to say he has the answer, but he really needs to let us know what's up. Knowing bad news is better than not knowing anything at all!

Beanie thanks for the link... hmm so they are blocking it.. I'm little upset now that I know that is true.. here is a program giving us what we want and they won't let us use it!
Re: So disappointed with the wait... (firmware issues)
It is disappointing, but we can still use both, we just have to swap firmware. It's a pain, but at least there IS a way.
