Expression and SCAL

Post by CollegeScraps »

I got an Expression for Christmas and it worked with SCAL great the first few times. HOwever, I have noticed that my cuts are about 1/4 to 1/8 when cutting from SCAL. For example if I have an image set below the 2 inch line it will cut about 1/8 to 1/4 inch above the 2inch line. Does that make sense? Is this just something funny with the interaction between the Expression and SCAL? or should I be bugging Provocraft with my warranty?

It is a little off, and you will learn to compensate for it. It will change slightly with each mat as they are not all printed with precision accuracy the same. Many people have addressed this on their blogs, and there are topics posted elsewhere on this site about it...I just allow enough room around the placed images on the virtual mat and cut my papers to go outside the cut line enough.
If it is Print and Cut that you are concerned about then you can search that and find many suggestions to get proper placement.

Seems to be the norm with the Expression. Mine comes down 1/4 inch (some times even a 1/2 inch) from the top but the weird thing is, it corrects itself by the time it gets to the 6 inch mark**. I've just learned to adjust for it too. Not a biggy considering how much money I've saved by having SCAL and not having to buy carts!

**I should have stated that I noticed it correcting itself when I'm doing paper piecing!
