I'm pretty new to all this. What does converting a file do? Does it cut all the middle stuff out and leave an outline, or do you piece all the little pieces together, or something else. I'd love to see a pic when you are all done to further my understanding.

To convert an image means to take an image, bring it into SCAL or Inkscape where it is traced into outline form so it can be cut out on a Cricut or other cutting machine. I have not cut out the file I posted but it should cut out just like it looks. All of the white is taken off after it is cut and the red image should be what you are left with. This image would cut best in vinyl since it is somewhat intricate.
