Getting vinyl smooth on round surface

Post by bamaslp »

Hi,
I want to make some Christmas ornaments. I am putting polka dots on round colored Christmas balls. I am having difficulty getting the dots to lay smoothly. I have seen people post that they use a hairdryer. I tried this and see how the heat stretches the vinyl, but I still can't get it to lay without air bubbles creating ridges. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

You can try using a wet application (google it, many good videos) since that makes it easier to get the bubbles out, but it may make more sense to just use smaller dots.
