"Checking Mat" freeze?

Post by sowatcher »

Hello! Just downloaded and installed SCAL this afternoon :)

Just went to make my first cut. "Checking mat" screen has been up for a few minutes and nothing is happening. Is this normal and it will eventually start?

Oh, and I have the George cartridge in. Should I leave it in or take it out? I don't need to push any buttons on the machine itself do I? Are y'all laughing at me yet? ;) :) :)

Thanks!!

I had this to happen to me yesterday....I resolved this by shutting down everything and restarting. Problem solved.

Still trying to get this resolved. Todd sent a response last night and I've done what was outlined.

The Cricut cable runs directly into the computer. I uninstalled anti-virus software, reinstalled the Cricut software. Updated the firmware to V1.1 and it still won't get past checking mat.

Tried several different fonts just to try that.

Any other help suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Melissa

I have had that happen on several occasions too. The only thing I have found that works is the following:

* Update your firmware first
* Reinstall the most current version of SCAL (it will install "on top" of the version you already have)

I've never had to uninstall my anti-virus OR turn it off (that's just too scary for me!).

Good luck, I hope this works for you!

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and nothing worked yet.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Todd.

Any other suggestions from anyone, I'll try them. Appreciate it.
