Which is more like Inkscape?

I'm beginning to look at larger cutters, 24". Does anyone know of a larger cutter that works with Inkscape? Or which other software (Corel or AI) is worked like Inkscape so the learning curve is a bit easier trying to make the transition? I'll still use the Cricut but am ready for a larger cut.

While I would like the Roland Cutter, I've been saving up for a good bit and still don't quite have enough so am starting to look at other more economical cutters

Todd would say that AI is easier to use than Ink, but I really disagree. I've had AI since this spring, and I rarely use it. Iit's a struggle to figure out how to do what I already know how to do, so I usually don't bother. It seems like most of the Inkscape/AI tutorials online are for people that use AI and want to learn Inkscape, not the other way around (if you find some, please post them )

Also, there are only a couple of things that AI can do that Inkscape can't. I'm pretty sure that AI has a fully functional 30 day trial, so you can give it a try and see how you like it. CorelDraw probably does too.

If you are using Inkscape, I don't see any reason to switch. Inkscape saves files in more than one format. There should be one that is compatible with your new cutters software.

So Todd, then I just need to ask which file type the cutter accepts? Most say "compatible with Corel, AI, and one other that escapes me at the moment. I guess what I'm trying to do is take a file I already have created in Inkscape and can cut with SCAL and just make it able to cut on a new cutter.

I honestly think that you should be able to use a file that you already have, open it in Ink and either save as or export the file as one that your new cutter will accept.

I have a Roland Camm-1 cutter and we use dxf files to cut...though we work through an independent software called Letter Art and import the artwork through it.

Roland advertises a software that comes with many of their current machines called CutStudio and it says that it functions as plug-in software for Windows Adobe Illustrator 9/10/CS and CorelDRAW 10/11/12. I'll have to look to see if we have a program that came with ours...we've had it for several years and because we worked with a software program that suited our needs we've never used anything else.

They have another program called Gimp which is very similar to inkscape..

Hello,

I have a Black Cat Cougar as well as my Cricut. I use the Cricut for quick things and the Cougar for thicker and really detailed cuts. The cougar uses Inkscape and then exports the svg to Sign Cut. Sign Cut is really easy and is just the cutting preferences for the machine.
