Does anyone know if this can be done. I have found some designs I want to purchase but they are only available in those formats. After many hours of trying my hand at inkscape I am still inkscape illiterate. Any words of wisdon from anyone. Thanks in advance for any help or advise

I *think* you can import AI files into inkscape, I couldn't see where it works for EPS files... but someone more experienced with inkscape can probably give you a better answer.
If inkscape can't, a program called CorelDraw can import both file types, and then export them as SVGs (but it isn't a free program)...

You should be able to open AI files with Inkscape if they were made with AI version 9 or higher. You can also convert EPS to PDF with this online converter. http://convert.neevia.com/pdfconvert/
I would talk to the person selling the files to make sure that they will work with you if there is a problem first though. HTH
