best inkscape tutorial ?

Post by Sancho »

Hey,

Looking for a recommendation for an Inkscape Tut. I've been using Scal 2 for about 6 months and I want to be able to make my own SVG's. I want to be able to take pictures off the web (.png, .jpg) and make them into cut files. Does anyone have a tutorial that they used and really liked?

Thank you. Yes. I did check there. I'm just overwhelmed as to where to start. I did see HeatherM's blog has lots of tutorials. I just was hoping for some guidence from someone who has recently started using Inkscape as to which tutorials were the best for them. I guess I'm just gonna have to dig in and watch a bunch.

Well needless to say, everyone was very helpful from day one. When I started, the two that helped me A LOT were:

http://susanbluerobot.blogspot.com/

and

http://dan99.blogspot.com/

If you go to Dan's blog, search for "Inkscape" in his blog search feature and those tutorials will come up.

There are so many other good ones. http://cleversomeday.wordpress.com/ and SVGcuts.com are also extremey helpful.

If I can give you one word of advice - Jump and and just keep trying. Don't let it intimidate you. Start with the basics. I had my cricut for a couple of months before I took it out of the box just to try it. I stumbled upon SCAL and I've been hooked ever since. I'm by no stretch of the imagination an expert, but I get by and that's good enough for now. I am constantly learning something new. Like the "Nike" logo..."Just Do It." You'll be so glad you did. :D
