Ok... I purchased my Cricut Expressions yesterday along with the Design Studio. I got DS because after reading about it on the Cricut site I was under the impression all the fonts were INCLUDED in the DS..... Of course the are NOT.
So what is the purpose for me keeping the DS? Does the SCAL have the same functions as DS with the capability of using True Type fonts.
I have the first version of Wishblade too and DO have the capability to use the fonts... But really wanted to have the choice to cut much bigger areas.
After reading the posts on the Cricut site and then here, I am totally confused. I am a little computer challenged and I don't want to get in over my head with a complicated program I wouldn't use. However, I sure don't want to be stuck having to JUST use the cartridges.
Also can I transfer the font files that I have on my Wishblade flash cards to the SCAL program? I would like to sell the Wishblade but still keep the fonts I already have.
I know I will probably have a LOT more questions should I decide to purchase this progam. But thanks for reading and helping with my questions.

Re: Confused!!
I have Design Studio and NEVER use it any more. I would return it and just download the trial version so you can update the firmware - needed to run SCAL. Once you return DS, go ahead and buy SCAL. You won't regret it. It cuts basically everything! The shadowing and welding is the easiest.........way easier than DS!!!

Re: Confused!!
You still have to have the Cricut cartridges to use CDS...states that right in the explaination of the software. And I like what both softwares can do to enhance the Cricut machines.

Re: Confused!!
Thank You Kelsie and Steph!!
I am still a bit confused about having to have other software programs like Inkscape to convert files and such. It is rather scary to this somewhat computer challenged gal.
I will be returning my DS AND the cart I purchased when I got my Cricut. Since there IS one cart with it I don't need another.
Again, thanks for your replies!

Re: Confused!!
I would suggest that you get use to SCAL with fonts & dings first. THEN you can start reading about inkscape...When yo see what THAT can do you will WANT to learn!
