text or selection tool

i don't like having to click on the text button to type and then click again on the selectin tool button to manipulate my objects and back and forth.....makes it time consuming......this so far is the only thinkg that make me crazy!!!! I would like to be able to type and then double click or right click to manipulate the objects. please please please!
