I want to make a name frame......If I cut out my name in vinyl, is there a way to center it?

Not sure if you mean how to center period? If so here's that. But if you mean something else, sorry for answering the wrong thing. 
Scal2, you select the two seperate items and the position/size screen opens up. Then the orientation icons pop up, click the one you want and if center, it will move the items to the center of the mat. Group them and then you can move them anywhere else on the mat and they will stay centered of each other.
In inkscape, you basically do the same thing but up at the top of the screen next to the T for text there are the align bars, click on those and align options will show up.

If you are asking on how to center your name on an object, start with the letter in the middle of your name and work outword on each side . So in a picture frame you would find the center of your picture frame, put the middle letter of your name there and work out from each side. Hope this make sense.
