I have the original Cricut with version 1.32 firmware, I have the Cricut Design Studio version 1.0121104.0 and I have the original Sure Cuts A Lot version 1.016. I don't use my Cricut a lot (obviously

) but my grand daughters are really getting into making little scrapbooks so I think I will be needing to get up to speed here. First of all, the last time I used everything, it all worked, so I'm thinking it still will. I'm currently taking a class on Design Studio at My Creative Classroom (
http://www.mycreativeclassroom.com/cour ... php?id=191 ) and the first thing the instructor says to do is to update the Cricut and Design Studio-now, I remember when I first bought SCAL, everyone said to NEVER update the firmware because SCAL might not work with the new version. Is this true? I would just as soon leave everything the way it is unless I absolutely need to upgrade. Now, I see checking here for an answer to my question (if I upgrade, will my current version of SCAL still work?), there is a new version of SCAL-what are the advantages to ugrading? Is there a big difference between SCAL 1 and SCAL 2? And will everything I have still work if I upgrade? I hope this makes sense-I just don't want to make any mistakes-I use SCAL more than I use Design Studio and don't want to mess anything up.
Thanks!
