Inkscape help or make me a trapezoid

I need to make custom envelopes, and I need a trapezoid, for the bottom flap. I have tried to do this in inkscape, and have actually made one by just drawing lines, but it does not import into Scal . I saved it as an svg file. But nothing happens. Not good at at with inkscape. Nothing, nada. Have been reading tutorials, but need more time, of which I have none right now.

I have made envelopes in Scal using basic shapes, but I have to cut the corners by hand. I figure I have this wonderful machine to do the cutting for me, so I need an envelope design. Basic 4.37 x 5.75" envelope, only I want the top or closing flap to be longer than the bottom flap. I would also if it is possible like the side flaps on top to have rounded corners as well as the bottom flap. Not necessary, but it does look nicer. Is any one willing to help?? Hi. I have this envelope if you think it might help you. It's not exactly what you are looking for, but you might be able to play around with it to make it what you need.
