Animals Shadows

Felt like experimenting today and as I was cleaning found this box from my daughters toddler days with plastic shapes of animals that you matched up and put in the plastic stencils where they matched.Anyway, I wondered if I could trace the shapes (by hand of course), scan them as a jpg and then do a trace and see what I get.

The little pieces even had some lines on them so I hand drew the lines, too. It scanned pretty good, so brought into Inkscape to see what would happen there.

I did get the double lines and didn't feel like messing with them so I just filled in the image with the paint bucket tool to get a shadow and pulled off the shadow.

One did not get the double lines (not sure why) -- miracles do happen and you can see that one image that is not filled in.

I simplified all that I could as long as it didn't distort the image and this is what I got.

So.....if you happen to have any of those children toys and stencils around and your printer also scans, go to it and get those shapes.

(Also found in hubby's shop some wooden stencils with christmas cutouts he used with his scroll saw. Guess what I'm going to do with that treasure.

Good idea and great images. I've scanned a few things myself. Being resourceful definitely has its rewards.
