Cutting Fabric

Post by inthePottershand »

We are going to Family Camp and it is a cowboy theme. I am making our granddaughter a bandanna skirt with a white t-shirt. I want to cut out a cowboy boot from my SCAL on the Cricut in fabric. Does anyone know what settings I should use to cut fabric? Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks!

I don't remember the settings, but I do remember that having a new sharp blade helped. Also, I think you will need to iron on some fusible interfacing or something to help stabilize the fabric. I can't remember what I used, but it worked really well and the fabric cut with no problems.

Here is an excerpt from another post where Gj1 explained how to secure fabric. Never did this myself, but did remember seeing it. If you do a search on cutting fabric, you will find the whole topic.

Excerpt "put Heat & Bond on the back of the material before cutting. It can work and I have done it before but sometimes the other methods are really more simple in the long run. I believe I use a deep cut blade and actually taped the fabric to the mat so it would not shift and use a sticky mat."

i used fusible interfacing on a light cotton with my regular blade (Roland 45) and it cut like butter. my understanding is that some materials don't cut well though. HTH
