vinyl on stainless?

Post by AshleyNC »

Has anyone put vinyl on stainless? I'm looking at some stainless coffee tumblers and wondering how it would do.

Does it stick as well and as long?

I know the rule is usually to suggest handwashing, but on plastic I've found that it really does stick for a long time when run through the dishwasher. Wondering if stainless would be the same or not since I assume it gets even hotter than plastic in the dishwasher.
Thoughts? Experiences?

Thanks!

A car is a metal and it works well on that so I don't see why it wouldn't work on the stainless coffee mugs

Actually one of the members here used vinyl on stainless water bottles so it will definitely work..

I would suggest that if you do use on Stainless make sure you clean it with Acetone or MEK (if your State hasn't banned it yet). That is if it is raw Stainless (not colored because the MEK will remove the paint, if painted). If it is painted or anodized (colored but not paint some bottles/tumblers are anodized) I suggest using rubbing alcohol because it will remove the hand oils from the metal but not harm the finish.
If you aren't learning something new everyday you might as well just lie in a grave and wait for death.
