Need help with correct sizing of SVG file for wedding invite

I have tried to no avail to get my svg from inkscape to size correctly in SCAL. I have attached the file I created.

Essentially I am looking for the pocket sketch measurements (pocket sketch photo attached) in order to fit properly in an A7 envelope that I have already created --- note to self: create card before envelope!

I would really appreciate any help anyone could give me - I am new to using Inkscape and definitely need to learn some new techniques!!

When I imported your file into scal, the dimensions were right on. I think what you need to do is get a 12x24 mat and then change the mat size to 12x24 in scal. The max you can cut is 11.5 x 23.5. If you are going to be using 12x12 paper, you're going to have very little wiggle room trying to cut at 12". You might want to shorten the length a tad if that is possible, or you're going to have to calibrate your machine to be spot on, or you'll need to use paper larger than 12x12. Am I making sense? Hope this helps a little.

That does help -- The problem I am having I guess is the dimensions read right in Inkscape but how do I transfer properly to SCAL? When I attempt to, it changes my sizes on everything? Does anyone know the process to importing so you don't have this problem?

I'm just curious; what are YOUR dimensions in SCAL? I'm not sure if this is your problem or not, but under "Preferences" in SCAL, do you have "90 Inkscape" selected for SVG DPI? I don't know what it means, but I also have "workspace alpha filled" at 100. Maybe someone who knows what they're taling about will come along shortly and help you out. Sorry!

You solved it! It was set to Adobe Illustrator so it threw off the units.

Do you know of any good inkscape tutorials - I am trying to learn more! Thanks again

Gosh, there are many tutorials now. When I first came on board, I learned a lot from Susanbluerobot and dan99's blogs.

These forums have Inkscape tutorials. Take a look at some of those. Hopefully others will come along to share their favorite tutorials.

Just FYI -- I also ordered some books on Inkscape (of course the tutorials are free). I can give you the names later as I don't have them in front of me right now.

Also, check out good old You Tube. There are some tutorials there.

Then, for me....it's been practice, practice, practice.
