Going crazy - can someone help with...

Post by jrzigirl »

I am trying to make a design to cut - when I design it, it looks great. When I preview it, the insides of certain letters and numbers disappear as cutting lines. I have made this exact design before but this never happened! Does anyone know how to fix this? I would be so appreciative! Examples attached below. (Don't know how to insert the images but I attached them as PNGs)

I think you might have used Union, and perhaps it would be better to Weld. I think if you can Undo back to the beginning or start over and try Weld instead of Union.

Thanks but I did weld the text. Union does not seem to be an option when I look in that list, I am not able to click that on. So frustrating!

It would be very helpful if you could post the file itself. You do it the same way you posted the pictures. If you need help with this then ask again.

Trying but it's telling me the file is too big (546KB) Has to be under 256. How do I make it smaller? Thanks

You problem is "weld". When you preview and see "grey" that means the shape will not cut.

Just select each of the offending letters and uncheck weld and you should be fine. If not, repost and someone will be here for you.

Actually, I had to separate the insides and then Union the rest and put the insides back into it. Here you go... It had to be uploaded as an .svg because of size for some reason on the .scut.

I think I got it now. Good Luck...this is a sad file to work with...he was so young.

Thanks so much to everyone! Yes, this was a sad one...I have made too many of these lately. I actually met his mother in the parking lot of Costco when she admired another memorial cling on my van. She asked where I got it...told her I made it with Cricut and SCAL. Offered to make her some too. She was thrilled and so appreciative. Gotta feel good for random acts of kindness!

BTW, Can you please explain to me how this happened. I have used this same font and design several times and NEVER had this problem. Is this due to updating? I was always able to weld the letters without getting the centers of the letters involved. Does anyone know what the difference was this time? I would certainly like to avoid this in the future. Thanks again for your help!
