My hubs just bought me a gypsy (yay), and the store manager said I could return it if I didn't like it when I played with it.
So do any of you have one, and did you run the update to get the 5 free carts, and did that mess up your firmware, and the ability to use scal??
I did run a forum search, but I didn't readily see an answer to this.
thanks

Re: I have a cricut question
you cant use any 3rd party software...I just got rid of my gypsey with 46 carts linked..You have a chance to return it, if I were you I would..Unless you plan to just buy carts, instead of all the images that are free out there.

Re: I have a cricut question
I am also new to both Cricut and to SCAL2. I just bought a Gypsy at a steal of a deal (new) from Hobby Lobby yesterday for $99. Can you tell me how to get the free carts? I haven't opened the box yet, but I was just wondering if it's a speacial deal for buying in a particular store, or what?
Re: I have a cricut question
I think it happens after you register, and update it. Check your email, you get a code for 200 points. My hubs bought mine for me at Hobby Lobby too. I love it when he says I can have whatever I want in a craft store. Though I don't think he realized what I would pick LOL. I almost choose damask decor over the gypsy.
There was a message on the update page that it might take 24 hours for the carts to show up
My gypsy froze several times during the content update, run them separately. If it freezes you can unscrew the stylus cap and poke the reset on the back lower right. That got rid of the connected screen. I did not install any of the imagine stuff. I don't forsee myself ever buying one. So I didn't want more things to shuffle through. Mine froze when it tried to upload the content to my gypsy, I heard some people had to update for 4 hours O.O
My cricut firmware was already updated to 2.34 so my gypsy didn't try to update it again. I have no idea what the current firmware is.

Re: I have a cricut question
Narelle, has a stick posted over at the Cricut Gypsy forum about the five free carts if that helps any.
Re: I have a cricut question
You may not be able to get them. I called support and was told that the promotion ended. I emailed the link of the page that told me they would be updated to my gypsy via sync. The girl argued with me for awhile, I finally asked to speak to her supervisor, who was far more understanding. He agreed with me that the page I was sent to to register my gypsy was misleading, and I should have the carts by friday.
I see they have changed the copy on the page, but it is still very misleading.
