Whoa.. So Lost for Words

Post by Sweetness4713 »

So as most of you know I work in a high school cafeteria.. Serving lunch at lunch time I notice this one young girl taking hands full of napkins.. I mention this to the boss so she asked the young girl what the reason for this was.. She said did you spill something.. The girl says yes I spilled my pop. .BUT at the same time this young punk (guy) who she is with makes a smart remark saying "Yah because we are special".. I was so angry at the way he said and said to him.. very nicely mind ya.. "That's not very nice of you" He says what?? I said the way you answered her was not nice at all> He then just stares me down and I stared him down right back... Of course not meaning to though as I've been feeling like crud with migraines the last few days.. He says "Whatever> and them mumbles by telling me to F Off.. Holy crap.. I wanted to jump that counter but knew I couldn't..LOL. .I was shocked to say the least.. There was a student in front of him so he heard him as well and just shook his head in disbelief. I looked at my boss after the punk left and she asked what he said so of course I told her.. She couldn't believe it.. she was shocked.. I told her.. I will no longer be serving that student as she will have to .. She said "NO .. he will no longer be allowed in our serving quarters....We did report him to a teacher so hopefully they will take care of the situation.. and I told my boss they better not bring him to me to apologize because I don't even want to see him..
She was quite happy I handled myself pretty good because she knows I can dish back what is brought my way.. ROFLMAO.. Nah.. Not me.. Sooo I know this is a useless post BUT.. I just wanted people to see there can be an evil side to me.. NOT... LOL

No...it's not evil. Some deserve it. I am a high school teacher. I just tell myself they will grow up someday and either change to be a productive citizen or a total drain on society (and I pray it's not the latter).

Looks like a couple of us have the opportunity to work with kids on a daily basis. I am very fortunate to have a great bunch of kids on my bus. Not to say that they don't get mouthy from time to time, but I put them in their places. They are not used to an adult standing up to them. My standard phrase to them is, "I don't put up with it from my own kids and I'll be darned if I will take it from someone elses kids". Good job for taking up for the young woman. I am sure you are a big "positive" at your school.

I'm a lunch lady in a high school cafeteria too. I completely understand. There have been a few students over the years that have pushed my buttons. We have had a few banned from the cafeteria. The majority of the students are polite. I was very surprised when I started at the number of them that said please and thank you! I love my job and don't let the few cranky one's annoy me.

Oh trust me.. We have a lot of polite ones. .More the young men than the young ladies that bid us a good day or a thankyou.
But watch out tomorrow.. I'm sure my boss will ban him from the cafeteria.. There was no way I was being rude with him..My simple phrase like I said to him was That wasn't very nice of him.. and that's all I said.. so there was no reason for him to cuss at me.. We are more than good to these kids so he should treat us with respect.. I was more than taken aback.. and I really wasn't feeling good today as well so maybe that was why it bothered me the way he spoke back.. I dunno.. All I know is I'm not the one that will be dealing with him.. Someone else can serve him as far as I"m concerned..LOL

There is nothing in this world that makes my day more than a nurturing cafeteria worker. It's the one time of day when people need nurture, and you have a rough job cut out for you. The ones who smiled at me every day have a special place in my heart. I was on reduced lunch and had to get there an hour before other students, so they fed me breakfast and lunch. The lady who took my lunch smiled and spoke kindly to me everyday when I felt inferior. I will never forget her. Another one always kept my favorite flavor poptart for me. I'll ask the Lord to give her a special jewel or two in her heavenly crown.

Kids these days, I tell ya'. I can't believe the things that I see them do and hear come out of their mouths. When I was younger I always treated adults with respect. Where do they get off? They get away with way too much IMO and if that continues, their attitudes will only get worse, not better.

The thing nowadays?? are the parents are NOT allowed to lay a hand on their own kids when the discipline them.. If they do?? they will be sent to jail.. Their own teenagers are reporting them for verbal abuse. .That is how bad it is.. Blame it on our government.. You can't even look at the kids sideways.. I'm not saying parents should abuse their children but they should take some responsibility in raising them properly. and I know our troubled ones all stem from the parents.. These are the parents that go out and drink and party every day. How would they expect them to turn out.. I'm just thankful it's not my children.. My children were disciplined when they did wrong but my children were also loved and still are.. They are now responsible young adults, married with children of their own.. My son is a police officer.. I had a principal tell me my son was going to end up in prison because he got suspended a few times in high school defending himself.. he was picked on by the same child from the day he started school. He never wandered the streets at night or stole, or anything like that.. it was minor stuff. .Never let it affect his grades.. he was your typical teenager.. He was an honor student, graduated with a 3.85 our of 4 from college.. Well he proved this principal wrong.. I told my son, if you ever run into him you show HIM what your career is..LOL. Of course this principal had no heart.. As for m y daughter?? she graduated college as well from Hotel and Restaurant management.. For now her career is on hold as she is raising her two beautiful daughters with her husband who right now is off at police college.. .. It must have really bothered me to have started this post and it still does..lol .Oh well I will go to work this morning and hold my head up high and if he shows up and talks to me I will talk to him.. I would like to take him aside and have a good chat with him and explain to him why I thought he was being rude but my bet is . .he won't show up.. I'm not the type that holds grudges.. It's 5:30 in the am my shift starts at 8.. so it should be an interesting morning for sure.. I'm normally off but offered to help as we have a big catering to do. See?? that's my nature.. I put others before I put myself. Not a good thing..HAHAHA.. Oh well. have a good day my friends and thanks for listening..

I agree that some of the problem is with society but the majority of the responsibility lies with the parents. We have babies out there raising themselves. They get up and off to school alone, then go home alone. Parents don't take an active role in raising their kids. We are an "all about me - my time is more important than anyone elses" society and we are teaching our kids the same. When they do come upon someone who gives them attention and some guidlelines they don't know how to take it.

Not taking anything away from educators, at lot of time - support personnel spend more time with the students on a one to one basis. It's a challenging job but we all love kids or else we wouldn't be doing it.

"""(((((( GIANT PAT ON THE BACK )))))))""""" to everyone who associates with children and offer guidance on a daily basis.
