I downloaded Cacao Fat font and it won't weld not matter what I do! I tried using the "weld" feature and I've tried using Path-Union. (yes, the letters are overlapped )
I thought my program was just acting up so I shut it down, re-opened it and tried a different font. That one worked fine. Tried using Cacao Fat again and it just won't weld!!
Thanks Todd. I tried that but it didn't work either. Could it be the font? I've never had any problem before with any other fonts. I've done hundreds of scrapbook page titles using weld or path-union without a hitch. Bummer
Yeah, it's the font. When I tried to "shadow" it, it becomes 3 different layers. I'm determined to use the darn thing though so I'll keep working on it!
Try using it in Inkscape. You should be able to create what you want, then use Path/Union there. You can manually kern in Ink before using the Path operations by either placing the cursor between the letters or selecting the letters and using Alt and the arrow keys. If you are using Ink47 or 48 you can also use Path/Object to path and then ungoup the letters and move them.
If you use Path/Object to path, try changing your view to Outline to see what lines the font has.
Just some technical info. The direction of the paths is important in these operations and sometimes fonts do not follow the path direction standards. You could probably play around with reversing paths on something simple, but Inkscape is better suited to override these kinds of issues.
Thanks for being here...firstcut...I would be completely lost if it were not for you technical know how. I have used so many of your helping tutorials many times over. Thanks again!
