ProvoCraft will not help

Post by CollegeScraps »

Hello -

I just got a Gypsy and when I attempt to cut or update my expression the Gypsy reads "Gypsy is not able to communicate with your cricut. Please power off your Cricut, check the USB cable, and then power the Cricut back on." My Expression will say "No cartridge found. please load cartridge" I called PC concerned that the cable that hooks the gypsy and the expression together is not functioning properly. However, when I accidently said that I have used SCAL they refused to help me any further. Their BS line is that SCAL causes permanent damage to the port making it impossible to communicate with the gypsy. They would not provide any help with the problem as I had used SCAL and it was clearly a problem with my Expression. Then they tried to get me to purchase a refurbished cricut from them.

Did anyone else have this problem with their Gypsy? How did you get it to update and make it connect to your Cricut?! I am so at a loss I feel like crying over this.

My advice is call again and don't mention SCAL. I did a Google search and it appears there have been problems with the Gypsy driver (unrelated to SCAL) and frustration overall with the product.

And my opinion. SCAL will NOT cause any damage to your cricut. SCAL is a software that is in stalled in your computer. .So I guess they can assume that the gypsy won't cause any damage to your circut?? Yes call again and don't mention scal. They have NO proof that SCAL does any harm. .That's just their way of saying well if you buy SCAL you aren't support Provocraft..

I think I figured it out. I have always hooked my gypsy up to the Cricut without a cart in the cartridge place. Well I decided to try it with a Cartridge in the cartridge place as if I were cutting with SCAL... and guess what.... my cricut is updating right now via my Gypsy and i'm not getting those crazy messages!

Glad you got it to work! Nothing more frustrating than poor customer service.

I emailed Provo Craft on Dec. 29th asking how to put Design Studio on my new laptop. I have the cd and it's currently on my old laptop.....you know how sticky they are about only having the program on ONE computer! Anyway, I finally got an email back from them YESTERDAY. Here's what the email says........

"Thank you for emailing us. We hope by now you have found the answer you were looking for. If not, please call our customer service #......."

Can you believe that response? I heard people have been spending hours on hold with their customer service # so I won't even bother calling. I haven't used Design Studio in over a year so I doubt I'll use it again.

Yep, something to be said for customer service.

I would call them up and say to them exactly what you said to us about customer service.. I would even go as far as saying I will black ball their product to any of my friends that plan on buying it..LOL. .But that's just me... Treat them like they are basically treating you.. Just another customer who they don't give a rats behind about.. All they want is the money but they don't want to offer the services.. I've had to do this with a product with another company before and let me tell ya.. I won.. They even sent me extra coupons for other stuff and a written apology..

ProvoCraft is like the Devil. A necessary evil that is all part of the greater scrapbooking plan.
