Post by MamaD »

Has anyone successfully created a perforated or dotted line?

I had trouble also, but just tried this. Make the line solid, then "select" and put a box around it and then on the right panel change to a perforated line.

I am not sure if it will cut though. Seems to me, I tried once and it just cut a straight line.

Are you doing this under SCAL or inkscape? TIA

I was trying in scal2 and can do one with little individual strokes with the pen. I then export to open with my older version of scal 2 to cut, and this has worked.

It's been a while since I've worked with either program, so I guess I'm a little rusty. But I didn't know you could draw (with a pen tablet I'm guessing?) in SCAL2. If you could give me explicit directions I'd be grateful. TIA

In the Tool bar(SCAL 2.030) is a pen icon...it is by the Text "T".

Click a square and then go to the next point and click and when you have clicked your last click press ESC in upper left corner of your computer.

I am not good at this...so hopefully you will watch a tutorial would be better than me explaining.

Good luck!

I have a video that shows how to do this in SCAL2 and it cuts great. Single slots instead of tiny rectangles.

if you don't actually need the perforation, you may like the results of using the pens in your cricket.

gj1 -- thanks for the tip on the update!! It HAS been a while since I played with SCAL. I was using a 2.005 version and had NO IDEA about all the cool updates that have been made in the last year. WOW!! This is a REALLY powerful tool now. After watching the tools video on the craftedge page I figured out how to use the pen tool to create lines and edit them so they are perforated. I am trying to create a SCAL version of the Tim Holtz medallion/florette sizzix die. I 'think' I have it, but need to cut to test. If it works out, I'll share on this forum! Thanks again, and thanks to everyone else who responded as well.
