Unlayering an image to cut with 2 different colors of vinyl

Post by Dawg Mom »

Ya"ll, I know this info is on here somewhere but I can't seem to put in the correct info to search for it. I want to cut this image with 2 different colors of vinyl. The bottom layer in white and the top layer in green. How do I make this into two separate images or layers?

There were a lot of layers in this so I separated them into a normal, shadow, and shadow blackout. See if this works for you.

Oh my goodness! It's perfect! Thank you so much!! :D

One more question: There is a a little shape in the bottom right corner of the top image. It was on there when I downloaded it. Is that to line up the layers when I place them on my project? If so, how can I put it in the right spot on the other layers? Or, do you have any tips for lining up the layers?

If you need dots to line up the different layers I made another file with the dots. It will help if you cut this out in vinyl but if you cut it out in paper you can probably just eye ball it.

Here is what I did last week when I made stickers with three colors for my son's tiger cub den. I cut eight of these, so I copied each color with the sqaures and pasted it into a file so that each color was in its own file and included alignment squares for each sticker. I used the squares to line up the different colors.

When you do layers, each a different color, do you just place one layer on top of the other? When I do this, if the bottom color is darker, it shows through. How do you layer without this problem? :?: Please help :!:
