my SVG cut upside down?

Post by ScattyCardCrafter »

I have set it to a size 12 mat on my Expresssion normally it would cut at the top of the page if that is where I placed my design. but today it started at the bottom of the mat and my A4 card didn't quite reach so I am missing a part of my cut ON foil card so annoyed a bit. :(

BUT normally it would cut where I placed it on the mat..i.e if on screen it is at the top of the mat it cuts at the top of the mat on my machine.
Screen shot attached
Apart from being set at real dial size which I wouldn't think would make a difference to a shape. I have only changed the pressure wheel.
so is this something I have done or a blip in the software, trying so hard to get on with Christmas cards as I have people waiting to pay for them. All in aid of cancer charities, hospital research or hospice care.
if you need me to I can take photo of the placement where it cut.
Thanks
Scatty

Actually, it is cutting the correct way. If you notice on your SCAL mat, the arrow is pointing to the left. IF you look on your Cricut, the arrow is pointing to the top. If you rotate the mat so that the arrow is pointing to the left you will get what is on the screen.

You can get the screen to match the mat by clicking on the Orientation button (under Document on the Properties dialog) and choosing "Vertical (portrait)"

Hope this helps,
Magda

Thank you Magda.

WEll I never realised it could change it self round.
I certainly never knowingly changed the orientation.
Up till this cut They have always cut from the top, well depending on which element I placed first on the page. obviously BUT they always used the top as the orientation mark. I didn't realise it could be changed. Didn't even know there was one.
I just placed my paper on the mat according to where my elements were on my screen.
e.g yesterday I cut a gold bell on the left and the red bow, band and berries on the right. That is how I placed my paper. both at the same time, until I then cut just some more berries and another bow in a different colour still on the right.
So how did the orientation change between then and this evening?
And Why would anyone want to do that?

Very puzzled
Scatty
Off to change it though or I will end up cutting my mat if I only have a small scrap of paper to cut out from.

Open SCAL, and when nothing on the mat is selected you should have a Document window in the Properties section. There is a drop down box labeled Orientation. HTH

Hi Heather
Found it and changed Thank you very much for your help. :D

Hope you are having a wonderful day. Though looking at your location I am guessing it is getting cold there.

I guess for Michigan that is true, we just had a warm spell here up to 15C on Thursday. now colder again. I could never live where you do though as i guess a lot of the time it would be too cold for me.
I have a nephew lives in Wisconsin so about the same i am guessing.

enjoy the warmth while you can.

Thank you so much! You're my savior. I have been being annoyed by the arrow pointing up. Just fixed it :D
