Can you cut anything longer than 24"???

Post by pengyou »

Does anyone know if you can cut something that is longer than 24"? I remember someone posting somewhere, not sure if it was here or not, that took 2 of her 12x24" mats and taped them together, so that she could cut a title or something that was longer than a single mat. I can't find the post now and am hoping someone can help me. Thanks!

you can split your design, but you can't cut any longer than 24" at a time....

See these posts:

In this thread is two ways of doing it:

And here is great way of split up a large text/quote:

I recently did a sign that stretches about eight feet wide using 10 inch letters. I typed out the text, even though it didn't all fit on the screen. I then made sure that Keep Proportions was checked and set the width to 24 inches so I could see everything. Touched up the spacing, then returned the size so that the letters were again 10 inches high.

I added a 1/2 inch by 24 inch rectangle to the top & bottom of the mat. I left the lettering grouped, but did not group the rectangles.

I then cut the vinyl lettering that was on the screen, including the top & bottom rectangles. Then, using the nudge buttons and the X setting I moved the lettering to the left until the next section was on the screen. Did the "move to the left" thing until I had everything cut.

I drew a line along the bottom of my sign substrate, and lined up the bottom of the rectangle along it. Using the top & bottom rectangles, and the edges of the lettering I lined it all up.

Hope this helps.

Yes! Thanks for replying. I needed to cut several long strips, each 39" long. I ended up just cutting 2 pieces; one was 23" and the other was 16".
