inkscape or scal help please?

Hi,

I would like to cut this with scal2 but i'm not sure how to set it up in scal or inkscape so that the bottom of the letters are not cut?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nanacho, I set this up in inkscape pretty easily. I think it would be just as easy in SCAL2. Type your letters in a bold font using all caps. Add a very thin rectangle across your mat. Place the rectangle just slightly overlapping the base of your letters. Highlight both the letters and rectangle and weld. If you need help with the file, I'd be willing to help you with it. Let me know...

ETA: these instructions are for SCAL2. The method would be a little different in inkscape.

Thank you so much for your reply...I think I understand what you mean...That should work too. I was trying to get the letters to cut inside the "band" without the bottom of it cut...like this...

is it possible to select a portion of the bottom of each letter and change the cut line to a dashed line so it doesn't cut all the way off? I know there are alot of tutorials out there but it seems so daunting to know what to search for to find exactly what we are looking for.

This is a really neat idea for a present. Hopefully someone here will be able to help out.
