USB Cable Question

Post by ospreys2002 »

I'm trying to connect my cricut to my computer. I know it uses an USB A/B cable. I have one and the square part that is suppose to hook into the cricut is too small.

1. Are there different sizes of USB A/B cables?

2. I see the USB port on the back of my cricut, right beside the plug in adaptor. Am I missing something?

TIA! I feel technically-challenged and I'm usually good with things like this.

Yes, there are two (that I know of) different sizes in USB cables.

One end plugs in to your PC, that end is the same in either type of cable

The end that plugs into your device is small or large... the small size is generally used with MP3 players, digital cameras, devices of that type

The larger end, which is what the Cricut will use, is more often used with peripherals like printers.

Hope that helps,

What you have is not an A/B cable... you most likely have a 'mini-b' cable. There are several other ends opposite the 'A' out there, for cameras, phones and mp3 player. Be sure it says MALE A to FEMALE B. I don't think I've ever seen a Female A to Male B, but there are Male A to Female A which is an extension cable from the PC to plug another USB device into.
