I noticed that the trial version of DS has a lot of the cartridges on it so you can see what they are. Does the full version have ALL the cartridges on it?

As cartridges are released, you have to update your DS through the ProvoCraft site and then all the cartridges which are released will be there.

Don't you have to own the cartridge though before you can cut with it in Design Studio or did they change that?

You must have the cartridge inserted into the cricut for design studio to actually cut your design. You can look at cartridges that you don't own but you cannot cut them.
