UGHH Frustrating!! Any help appreciated

Post by moleigh »

I originally posted this topic http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopi ... 16&t=14342
I have since tried going a different route because I couldn't get it to work. I get so frustrated with Inkscape sometimes. I swear I follow the tutorials and my stuff still doesn't work. Anyway I'm trying to make 21 bookmarks by Monday. My plan is to cut two of these, the blank one and then the one with the name cut out. I will place the name cut out on top of the blank one using two different colors. I get it all done in inskscape and it looks great only to open it in scal and see something completely different. Can someone please help me understand what I am doing wrong

That looks like the compatibility issue with early versions of SCAL2 and Inkscape 0.47. Either update your SCAL to a more recent version or install Inkscape 0.46.

There is a work around for Inkscape 0.47, but it isn't 100% and it's more steps. Select your text and use Path/Union (you can do this instead of Path/Object to path) and also use Path/Union on the tag.

I don't have SCAL2 so I guess I need to download the older version of inkscape. It makes sense though since I recently got a new computer and probably downloaded a newer version. I will give it a shot keep your fingers crossed!! :) thanks!

Actually what you have is a different compatibility issue. SCAL1 doesn't work right with Inkscape 0.48 files. You can try using Path/Union, but it doesn't work all of the time. I think Inkscape 0.47 works with SCAL1.

You can get both Ink46 and 0.47 here. http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/
