SCAL 2 and Personal Cricut V 1.1 not cutting

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I have recently purchased SCAL 2 and have a Personal Cricut (V 1.1) that I wanted to use just for SCAL. I always keep my Expression updated so it definitely won't work with SCAL. But... I thought that my personal Cricut would work. I never update it. I have downloaded images from SVG Cuts and import them into SCAL 2. The images show up on the mat on my screen in SCAL 2, My Cricut is connected to my MAC OS X 10.6.4 computer, a cartridge (my community) is plugged in to the Cricut, my mat is loaded and I click CUT. The Firmware reminder pops up, I click CONTINUE... then it begins INITIALIZING, then CHECKING MAT and then I get an Error Message that says AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE TRYING TO CUT.
Help... please.
I'd love to get SCAL 2 up and running...

Try using your E. There shouldn't be a problem with using the recent firmware. Also, is your usb plugged directly into your computer and not a monitor/keyboard/hub?

Nope... my E doesn't work either. I have it plugged directly into my Mac, as before, the image shows up on the SCAL mat, when I click CUT, a window pops up and says CUTTING WITH CRICUT and then immediately pops over to an Error window that says CRICUT MACHINE COULD NOT BE FOUND. PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS CONNECTED AND TURNED ON...
When I see that message I think to myself, of course I have it on and yes it is plugged in....
My E has V 2.34 When I ordered SCAL 2 they said this version would work... not sure why nothing is working and I'm have a hard time trying to figure it out...
I'm still working on it.
Still looking for more suggestions.

If your computer can't find your Cricut, it sounds like a driver problem (at least for a Windows machine). Not sure how to fix that for a Mac. Either contact Support or wait for a Mac user to help. Also, if you could include your OS and SCAL info in either your location or siggy, it would help the helpers give you better answers. Maybe I'll try to uninstall SCAL2 and reinstall it.

Be sure to deactivate SCAL before you uninstall it. That way you won't need to contact CE to reset your activations later. If you have 2.021 or newer, you can do this through the Help menu. If you are using an older version you will need to go Help/About SCAL, then hold down the shift key while clicking on the info window, then confirm the deactivation.

I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK!!! I am so excited! I am having a wonderful time with SCAL 2 now!!!
It was a bad USB cable. All of that time and frustration... and it was as simple as that. I wish I would have thought of that earlier.

Thank you for your help! I'll chalk it up to a good learning experience and laugh about it.
