As mentioned in my prior post, I spent an entire day going through about 8000 fonts to find the right one for the calendars for my daughter's birthday.
I am using Nexus Font, because the Font Thing doesn't work on Windows 7 (and it had problems of it's own). I had test run this new version of Nexus that came out multiple times by creating a "set" (what they call a collection) and closing the program, then re-opening it, to see if it was still there. What was happening before is when the program closed, the sets would be deleted. I lost 650 fonts in a set the last time this happened. So here I was, happy that the bugs were fixed, because they were still there when I re-opened the program, and I open it up just now and guess what?!?!! My sets are gone. This included over 900 fonts I had as potentials for the calendar, and then a smaller list of favourites created from the original list. Plus another set of all my outline fonts, and a favourites list. And all my CK and 2Peas fonts.
I would like to take the creator of this program and... Never mind, you know what I mean. Aside from that being tedious and a lot of work, I am running short on time because I have only 3 weeks till this party, including all the elements involved in creating 11 calendars, organizing the stuff for the girls to decorate these calendars, (this isn't your standard, they-do-everything-themselves sort of thing, I wanted them to have something that will last and be used and be a memory of back then for them, a keepsake, not something to be thrown away in a year or two) plus the other stuff that goes along with a party. So losing all that entire day's work and many fonts I could have gone back to for other projects, I am seriously pissed off and do not have time for this type of cr*p. My stamina and energy are not reliable either, so that is not helping in getting it all done in a short period of time.
Does anybody know of a good font manager? I do not even care if it isn't free, I'd rather buy something with the amount of fonts I am accumulating now and how many hours of work I've lost with this stupid program. I just want something that works and does what it is supposed to, without the hassle of me trying to sort it out into folders myself, I couldn't keep up with it all, I can hardly even keep up with downloading the fonts themselves.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, sorry for the rant, I am just so upset and being on a timeline doesn't make it any easier--it's stressful enough as-is. But I do it--because she has the best birthday ever, every year, and that makes it all worth it.

I use AMP font Viewer. It is a free font viewer and manager. I love it. Works great for me and I've never had any problems with it. Here is the link if you are interested http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php.

Thanks, Amy. I have already downloaded yours and one try-before-you-buy. But I'll try yours first 'cause it's free
I really appreciate it because trying to find another FM has kind of thrown me for a loop and added another thing to my to-do list... Nexus Font was the last of the free I could try off cnet, having researched that one before. And with so many out there, how do you pick or know what's best or what will work? So thank you so much, again, and I'm off to try the program

You can still use The Font Thing with Windows7. I have a post on my blog on how to do this. I tried Amp but didn't really like it. I like that you can load fonts with TFT and don't need to go back and uninstall them when you are done. None of the other free font managers will do that as far as I know. HTH
