Shadowing

Hi I am totally new and I am trying to understand how shadow works for text. I want to create text and then shadow the text what is the best way to do this?

You can shadow you letter by using the appearance box and this will shadow each letter. also you can change the thickness of the shadow to have a thicker shadow, there are many options as too what type of shadow you want. the blackout shadow effect will give a mat effect depending on the style and thickness of your shadow just play with it a bit and you will see.But it can all be done in the appearance box and you can see what it is going to look like using the preview button at the top of your virtual mat.
