what impressed you with the Cricut?
I'm getting ready to do a session at a ladies' conference about Bulletin Boards and using the Cricut. Here is my question for all of you fellow crafters: what made you purchase the Cricut? How was the cricut demonstrated to you to make you want to buy one? What features would you share with a roomful of ladies who may have never heard of a cricut before? Any tips would be appreciated. Don't want to waste their time, want to be informative, and am hoping the experience of others will help in that goal.

Re: what impressed you with the Cricut?
One thing you can point out about the Cricut is that it makes your creativity virtually limitless. If you purchase and use SCAL with the Cricut, you can cut anything your heart can imagine. Yes, there is a learning curve but we are never too old to learn something new. As a matter of fact, as with everything except math and science, once you learn it, it rarely changes. If using SCAL or INK, once you can trace an image it is the same process each time you do it. You might have to tweak it but the basic steps are the same. And if you don't get it right, start over. If you get it right, save it before you make any changes and save it each time you are satisfied with the results as you continue to make changes.

thanks so much, althea, for the thoughts. They will definitely be a help.
Hoping some others will jump on board and share their thoughts. I've seen so many positive remarks about Cricut and SCAL. So, what convinced you to purchase it?

I got pulled in by the infomercial and fell in love with the variety of creative projects presented...you can create your own stencils for painting and etching projects, make cards, scrapbooking layouts and wall art. Additionally, you can cut fabric for sewing projects as well as endless applications with vinyl to personalize just about anything. I also loved the 3d projects like the little purses that came with my first cartridge and then when you add the beauty of scal the sky's the limit!
It's also portable and fun to share, it's something you can do with kids, too and allows everyone opportunity for artistic expression!
I hate my cricut...can you tell?

I watched the Infomercial and I was hooked when I saw that it could cut vinyl. With a little research, I found SCAL and learned that I could create and cut my own artwork. I love my Cricut and SCAL.

I'm the same with others on how I learned about the machine.. I love crafts and thought this is the great little starter machine to may card making journey.. NOt to mention price wise for the size it's able to cut is great as well. I'm not sorry I purchased this little machine.. I love it..
Re: what impressed you with the Cricut?
I saw the commercial a long time ago for the I believe the Cricut Create and thought that it was just the best idea since I loved making cards and decoupaging but hated having to draw or print images and then try to cut them out as neatly as possible. I did not however jump on buying it because it was so expensive. It was not until this past Black Friday that my husband found a Cricut Personal on sale for 64.00 dollars and bought it for me. They also had some cartridges on sale for 17.00 dollars so he bought one of them as well (there were two in the box with the machine).
I would love it even more if the cartridges were not so expensive. While I do have SCAL, there are three cartridges (Home Accents, Home Decor, and Graphically Speaking) in particular that I would absolutely love to have but cannot afford since I am unemployed now for over a year. I have been trying to find similar SVG's for SCAL but I am not having much luck at it. I am sure you will discuss costs but it might be good to mention that if one cannot afford the cartridges your options for using the machine can be limited unless you purchase something like SCAL and Inkscape (if you feel it would be appropriate since Cricut does not support or promote those programs.
Good luck and have fun!

Re: what impressed you with the Cricut?
I was impressed with the fact that I could easily cut letters for titles for my scrapbooking pages. Of course many cutters could do this. What clinched it for me was being able to connect my computer using a program such as SCAL to fully realise the capabilities of the machine.
Being able to purchase the Pink Expression was a bonus!

Re: what impressed you with the Cricut?
I bought a Cricut when it first came out. I was working at a scrapbook store at the time. I didn't see anything about it except the box and fell in love. But after I bought it and had it for awhile, I realized I needed more. I went online and found fun forums with plenty of support and people that loved to craft just as much as me! So I would tell people about all the support out there online especially if there aren't a lot of crafters in their area.

Re: what impressed you with the Cricut?
I started with the big shot from sizzex and the price and the weight of the dies got he better of me, so i was really intrigued with the first infomercial so I started saving for the cricut E. After I got it and got bored with what I had I went and started checking out the other carts not knowing how much they cost, Wow did I get a wake up call. I don't mind spending the money but it just felt like they were tying me down to what they wanted me to be able to do. I packed it away for nearly a year regretting the purchase, Felt like (and still do) that provo craft is only worried about getting your money and don't much give the customer a second thought. But when I heard about SCAL my dreams came true, Now I is a Happy Camper and will be for a long time. If my cricut broke tomorrow and I could not find another machine to work with SCAL, I would buy another., But if I found a different one, Provo craft would be a piece of my past.
