Folding Marks/ Scoring Lines

Post by scrappinash »

I love SCAL and am figuring out most things on my own. I have recently designed my own pocket to use on a calendar I am trying to design, the only problem is not having scoring/folding marks is making it difficult to accurately fold such a small design. Is there a way to add scoring/folding marks to your own designs??? Someone please help! I'm trying to make ten calendars by Christmas and without these pockets I won't be able to get them done!

If you have SCAL2 there is a pen tool.. just use the pen tool to draw the line where you want the fold to be and then click on that line and if you look to the right there is a box with a line in it.. click on that and there are perforated line option.. Click on the perforated line.. What I do is just set my cricut cutting blade to number 1 and then let the machine click the perforated lines in my image.. Works like a charm for me :D

I basically do the same thing except I use solid lines. I create my scorelines as a separate layer on my project. Before I cut the scorelines, on the number 1 blade setting, I hide all the other layers on my project. It produces more precise scorelines than the ones on PC carts.

I mention the solid line method on the video, too. Some people use an upside down blade or embossing tip for solid line scoring.
