Writing with gel pens

Okay I hope this makes sense.

When I write with gels pens using a cricut font they letters are written in outline form - which is not what I want.

Can you write in the scal with gen pens and it comes out just like regular writing?

It like to write a poem to put on the front of a card (if I actually had handwritting that people could read I would write it myself - but I don't).

So is that what "true type font" means - it will just print without being an outline?

I know I am asking lots of questions on different threads and I really appreciate your patience and your help.

I know if you use Inkscape and the draw with the freehand lines tool you can write anything you want, in your handwriting. (I have a WACOM tablet but dont use it with this. Use just the curser) Then do a object to path and make it an svg and save it. Import in SCAL and it will be a single line font. Just like regular writing. I'm not sure there is a font that has just a single line like cursive writing.

There are fonts available that will write as single lines in scal. bh-engrave is free and the other two you can purchase at cri-kits.com. I will try to see if I can find where you can get the free one and post again.

Ok, I finally found the info I was looking for.....it can be found here:

Click on her font tab and scroll down to Pen/Marker Fonts.......click on the first option...single line fonts for cutters.......it is Bauhaus Engraved. You can download it from there. Hope this is helpful.

By the way, I have all three of these fonts and they all write very nicely. I think you would be happy with any of them.

We have all been beginners at some point. If you decide to purchase scal, you will always be able to get help with just about anything on this forum. There are some very nice, friendly and helpful people here, someone is always willing to help. Please don't be scared or afraid to ask questons.

Yes, there are a lot of wonderful, helpful, friendly people here. Thank you guys so much. I will conquer my fear of computer programs this weekend - and then be asking tons of questions (even more than now). I really do appreciate your help and patience!

I just found the following site that you may be interested in. They can turn your own handwriting into a font that can be used for journaling. I do not know if it can be used with a cutter and gel pens. You may have to contact them to find out.

While there are fonts that simulate the single line of handwriting, the Cricut, IMHO, does a poor job with these at small (handwriting-like) sizes because the jerky motion causes a jiggle in the line.

Can you please post a sample of the Cri-Kits fonts drawn with a gel pen. A close up scan (I uses 150 dpi for my samples) would be ideal.
