Ok, my Firmware is 2.0 and I need either 2.1 or 2.3. So I need to upgrade and here's what I found...
Right now, the only way to do this is from a Windows machine (XP SP2/Vista) by using Provo Craft's Cricut Desgn StudioTM software. They have a free trial version available for download which you can download and use to update the firmware on your Cricut machine.
What if all I have is a Mac? Does that mean I can't use the SCAL because I can't upgrade my firmware? Is there something I'm missing?
I haven't purchased SCAL yet because I'm not sure I can use it.
Thanks!

Re: Upgrading Firmware
I am a Mac user who has scal 2 v. 2.013 and also Design Studio. I have Windows installed on a partition on my Mac which is how I use Design Studio since it is not available for Mac however, I do not have internet access on the Windows part....only on the Mac part. I am still able to upgrade my firmware and have done so many times. How this works I don't know, but it does work. The program I use for my partition is called VMware Fusion. It has worked very successfully for me. I would be happy to answer any further questions if I have not explained this accurately.
