HELP!! Making Stick Families!

Post by stefanyb123 »

Uggghhh! I'm so aggravated!!! I've been working on some stick families and they just aren't coming out right! I'm fairly adept with Inkscape,I've made tons of images in the last couple of years with it.

Well, I've never done any "outline" type stuff. And this is basically what the stick people are. I've tried making them from scratch, converting clip art, everything. I can't get the "outline". It keeps coming out like a solid image.

What am I doing wrong? Or does anyone have some svg files already they'd be willing to share? I would really like to get mine working, though. One is a coal miner and that is really big in my community. Plus, I want it for me!LOL!

BTW, I have the original SCAL and Inkscape.

Hi,

If you a are working in Inkscape and drawing a shape and it is filling with color and that is your problem, then go to Object/fill and stroke and turn the "fill" off. If this is not the problem can you explain a bit more and perhaps post a picture so we can see what it is you want to do so that we can help a bit more.?

I did some a week or so ago and you can see them here.

Ok, I finally got it, LOL!

No, it wasn't the fill. It was making an "outline" type shape. Like for the arms, for example. If you just "draw" a straight line, then it just cuts a line. You have to make 2 lines to make a "stick". See what I'm saying. Probably not, LOL! I'm not very good at explaining.

Well, anyway, I redesigned my people, and it works now. I also found that "stroke to path" gives me that "double line" that I needed.

Todd, those stick people are cute, but I wanted to use mine so I could use my coal miner guy that I made.

Thats probably the only free font I found for these. I figured they would be pretty popular, but I guess not. Usually, I can find several versions of just about anything , for free, but not stick people!
