I doubt I buy anymore carts...I don't like the cutesy kinda stuff for most of what I do! I do like the shapes though.

I was REALLY disappointed in the new release...the only one I may consider is the Indie one...maybe.

Thanks everyone for your input! I have decided to sell a couple of my cartridges that I have found a matching font. The rest I will hang onto just to see what happens in the near future. If Todd keeps improving this program the way he has been, they will be collecting dust!

I'm keeping my carts too. I go to crop about once a month and I don't want to take my computer along with all of the other stuff I take, so the carts will be great for on the go scrapin' and my computer font library will be great for home!

I have to say, there were three main reasons that I chose Cricut instead of Wishblade or Silhouette.
1. Too many choices and I may never be able to choose.
2. Not having to be tied to the computer if I don't want to be.
3. The programs that run these just looked too technical to be enjoyable.

Well, I don't have to be tied to the computer with my carts. Plus, they do have some really cute shapes, fonts, etc. However I am making a list of my favorite TTF's and putting them into categories so that I don't spend two hours searching before I cut! I am sure we will all develop our favorites, and then not feel so overwhelmed. Besides all that, SCAL is soooo simple that I don't feel like I am "tied" to the computer! I mean, I sit down, click a couple of times, and BAM! free font cut quickly. Yes, I will still buy a cart here or there. But to see a font that is perfect for a theme page without having to spend $60 on a cart just to get it.....PRICELESS!

just maxine wrote:I bought SCAL Friday afternoon. By Friday evening I was head over heels in love with this program. I have cut a tons of fonts and collecting dingbats like crazy all weekend. So DH says "I guess you don't need all of those cartridges anymore, huh?"

That comment has been haunting me all weekend! I have 22 Cricut cartridges in my collection. Do I need them any more?? At this moment, I can't see actually using them anymore when the world of free fonts has been opened to me. (and I sure as heck ain't BUYING any more!)

So what do you all think? Should I hang on to them, or sell them and get my investment back? Have any of you thought about this?
I have 30 carts and while I don't plan to sell them, PC will have to come up with some "knock my socks off" carts before I buy anymore. SCAL and Inkscape has opened up a whole new world...this is truly "cut what you want". I wish the software could be modified to use files like the other cutters so I could print something and then cut it...I will wait patiently.

I would not sell the carts you never know when you might need them.Plus we all bought them because we did like.I feel like i would miss a lot of the versitility that they have.I think just having both options is awesome.

I am definatly keeping my carts but...I don't think I will buy any more fonts! I like having the shapes, but I feel that SCAL is a far superior option with the fonts! I still can't believe how many options there are! I do agree with the problem of maybe having too may choices now!

OK, is anyone afraid that the legal rug at some time will be pulled out from beneath Todd's feet with his SCAL software? I guess I just haven't really read how far he went to get some agreement from PC on his software since it is utilizing their software and machines. For this reason I will be holding onto my 10 carts and probably add a few more here and there. The shadowing that is possible with the carts is enough for me to hang on to them. Just my two cents. :D

KEEP THEM!!!

A TTF shape just doesn't compare to a shape cut with one of the cartridges. JMO
