Where can I find the "gel" pencil holders--do they have funny ridges down sides (think I saw that sort on display)--can anyone describe a bit more...possibly brand name? Also, do you remove them in order to put cap back on pen? That is a problem I had ie in order to put in proper depth in cricut, the holder had to be in spot where the cap goes--am I missing something obvious (probably!).

Again, thnx to all-these forums are absolutely terrific--look forward to being able to contribute myself.

Hi all--VICTORY! I decided to try cutting the foam "wrong" pencil holder (in case I couldn't find better gel grips later) and just see if it would work wrapped around lower part of marker-YES IT DID-did get it to write well so now on to next step of figuring out what I want to mark when I just bought expensive machine, software, etc. TO CUT!!!!! I also re-looked at the Utube video on this subject and after checking the website, saw that you could buy nice metal holders for gel pens/sharpie....$55 EGAD.
Again, thankyou!

I've found the gel grips at Walmart and saw them at Staples. Couldn't find them forever and all of a sudden they are everywhere.

A good way to install your pen is to use a popsicle stick, or wooden craft stick to measure the distance to the paper. Just put the stick down, then put the pen in the holder and lower it until it touches the stick, then tighten. That way you get the same gap without guessing.

I used the tip of an old pen that my mini gel pens fit in just perfect.. I then used a foam grip around that and taped it in place and marked the take to where I fit it in the blade holder so it's the same heighth when it writes.. It works perfect every time.. :D I've done this for a while now...

Sweetness--thnx--very clever! Am looking for a pen with low enough lower end--will try when it surfaces--have few more areas to check--never would have thought of this improvisation!!!

The gel grips are transparent and look like rubbery jello. There were 2 types in my package, one was lumpy, like it has blobs stick to it and the other was diagonal stripes. No brand name, they are just in the pen and pencil section. Here's a link to what they look like (design may look different, but they are basically the same):

They are a struggle to get on, so I leave them one. I slide them all the way to the edge of the cap, so the cap can be put back on.

I don't know about mini gel MARKERS. But the mini gel PENS are available at Staples in a box of 12 for around $4.99 (staples brand).

The mini markers are Sharpies and come in regular tip and micro fine tip. You can get them in packages or some places have them at the counter individually. I've seen the mini markers at Staples, Office Max, Walmart and Target. The micro fine tip are a little harder, but I have seen them at Staples.

Hi there--good news: report on Staples haul: Mini gel pen set: $4.99 for 12; sale on sets of grips (8), 3 large erasers, 24 pencil top erasers for $2 @, gel stick pens 12 for $2.
Put grips on mini pens, to make wide enough to stay in holder had to fold back on itself, but worked fine.
First tried to "draw" an intricate silhouette that I had trouble cutting; choppy looking. Increased pressure from 2 to 3--DREW BEAUTIFULLY! How exciting....So many thanks to all for different wonderful contributions...
If anyone has any other suggestions on using these and markers, pls. advise ie any creative, fun, useful, warnings etc. Now better go put rest of grips on the sharpies and test drive them... :D
